After years of anticipation, IKEA, the biggest furniture seller finally opened its very first store in Indonesia on October 15th 2014, much to the delight of its fans. The world-famous furniture store is set in Alam Sutera, Tangerang – just 30 minutes away from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Covering a whopping 35,000sqm, it’s impossible to miss this imposing, standalone building. It offers the Ikea brand experience like its Southeast Asia counterparts with 55 smart room-set solutions, 3 complete homes, 1,000 parking spaces, and a 700-seat restaurant.
The Ikea brand experience would not be complete with the brand’s trademark blue and yellow colour scheme. To ensure that the colour is resistant to the punishing UV rays, galvanized ZINCALUME® was used as the base.
The wall is clad with the popular LYSAGHT® SPANDEK® profile. It allows the cladding to be cut to any length as desired. As a result, a seamless exterior look was achieved for the building with no end flaps visible.
For the floor decking, we used one of the best performing W profile – LYSAGHT® SMARTDEK®. It was chosen for its load-carrying capacity, thanks to its flange stiffeners and deep embossment.
Because of its resistance to deflections, the non-embossed LYSAGHT® SMARTDEK® was also used for the roof. We’ve combined it with a solid insulation and membrane cover, forming a watertight solid slab on top of the building.

A new, innovative steel decking profile that brings greater economy and design freedom for buildings with composite concrete slabs. The profile is produced by engineers after touring the globe for the best profiles.
